When we asked you to suggest some spots around the city in need of extra colour, a dull, grey Pump House in Northgate Reserve was chosen.
Northgate Reserve is located on the corner of Folland Ave and Dumfries Ave in Northgate. It is a large reserve featuring lakes, walking trails, a playground and a Pump House in need of a splash of colour.
What was once the plain roof of the structure is now the main focal point of the Pump House, clearly seen from the road and the reserve. The Pump House is home to one of our water aquifer and recovery systems, which works to capture
and filter stormwater before being reused to irrigate the reserve in an environmentally sustainable way.
Funded under our COVID-19 Recovery Framework, artist Matthew Fortrose has reinvigorated this space by adding splashes of abstract geometric colour.
