The staff at our five local libraries are committed to supporting local communities to learn and grow, providing accessible places to read, relax, create, and access technology.
With great customer experience at the front of mind, we offer services in a flexible and innovative way to suit your needs and interests.
Despite the temporary closures of 2020, we welcomed more than 420,000 visitors to our libraries during 2019-2020, which equates to three visits for every single resident of PAE over that time. 2021 will be a big year for our libraries as we expand our programs and build upon our achievements of supporting the community during 2020.
Libraries offer free access to books and other materials, both physical and digital, professional staff who can help you find trusted information and spaces to meet and connect with friends. They also offer a range of programs to support learning new skills for work and to stay connected in this technological world.
PAE Libraries provide literacy, learning and knowledge opportunities for the community, to help our residents improve their wellbeing, employability and be well informed of local and global issues.
Port Library Temporary Closure and Pop-Up Plus Open
While the Port Library is closed for a facility upgrade, we have a pop-up library to help you stay connected.
The Pop-Up Plus at Port Adelaide Plaza is happening just across from Coles. Join us for fun and interactive sessions which include local history, science, technology, craft and art activities.
For regular customers wanting to have access to the full range of ‘business as usual’ library services, we recommend that you visit Semaphore Library during the closure period and we’ll see you back at the Port Library by late March.
You will also be able to:
- Place and pick up your holds
- Browse a collection of new items
- Use the iPads available
- Access newspapers
- Chat to our friendly and knowledgeable staff
- Attend Baby Bounce and Storytime
- Drop in or book in to our program of activities.
