Our Community Services team have received a grant from the Office for Ageing Well to run a ten-part seminar series later this year and early in 2022.
The Life Event Seminar series will focus on major life events and how to build resilience for when they happen. Life events can have a major impact on people’s lives in both the short term and the long term, and people have told us that they feel they can cope better when major life events occur if they know what to do.
The seminar series will bring in guest speakers who are experts in their areas to present and have open discussions with attendees.
The Life Event Seminar Series will include sessions on:
1. Resilience and character strengths: What is resilience and how can you get it?
2. Downsizing your home: The secret of successful downsizing
3. Retirement: Winning tactics for retirement
4. Unemployment: Unemployment in later age
5. Death: A guide for when someone dies
6. Volunteering: Learn how to start volunteering
7. Grandparenting: How to learn grandparenting
8. Divorce or separation: Where to now?
9. New social opportunities: How to make new friends
10. Caring role: How to know when to ask for help.
The Seminar series is open to anyone over the age of 50.
Further information about the series, and the dates of each session, will be available on our website and in the next edition of PAE Today.
