AdaptWest is the Western Adelaide climate change adaptation plan, which is a collaborative project to prepare our community for the impacts of climate change and rising sea levels.
In late 2021, a series of workshops will be held, funded by the Disaster Risk Reduction Grants Program by the South Australian State Government and the Commonwealth Department of Home Affairs.
Called AdaptNow, the program will expand on our previous work creating a Community Emergency Management Plan. Participants will explore a hypothetical situation with our community that involves the cascading impact of a three-week heatwave, bushfire smoke impact in our suburbs, power outages and a rain event that causes wide spread localised flooding.
